The support of an Advanced Birth Doula involves more than the standard comfort measures, coping techniques and encouragement typically provided by doulas. An advanced doula is a licensed medical professional, who can provide a combination of clinical and non-clinical support during your pregnancy, birth and postpartum -- wherever you decide to birth.

Prenatal Support

The Advanced Birth Doula Package includes the following prenatal support: Two in-office prenatal visits at any time during pregnancy and one Home Visit between weeks 35-37.

Labor & Birth Support

The following Labor & Birth support:

- 24/7 on-call availability starting at 37wks

Clinical Support:

- Monitoring your vitals in labor while at your home (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, input/output)

- Monitoring your baby's heart tones in labor while at your home

- The option to have cervical checks at home as an additional tool to monitor progress and labor at home as long as possible

Non-Clinical Support:

- Emotional support and encouragement for you and your partner

- Physical comfort measures in labor

- Advocate for your care and birth preferences

Postpartum Support

The following Postpartum support:

- Home Postpartum visit once you are home from your birth location

- Home Postpartum visit at 1-2 wks postpartum

- Home Postpartum visit at 2-4 wks postpartum

- In-Office Postpartum visit at 4-6 wks postpartum

- Monitoring of your vitals

- Monitoring of your baby's vitals, including tracking weight gain

- Breastfeeding support and guidance

- Recovery support and guidance

However, Courtney is not a substitute for medical care as your Advanced Birth Doula. You should consult your chosen healthcare provider for recommendations on your and your baby's course of care. Courtney will not assist in the delivery of your baby at your home.
